Sunday FunDay

Vertical Limits !! Posted by Hello

This is one picture that I took from a car, Williams Tower, tallest building in Houston, located in Downtown. I love seeing this picture...the way that building approaches the sky. Symbolizes discovering our reach !!

As for Sunday, Amanda and Jason had come over to our place for Lunch. So, the morning was occupied with cooking and cleaning. :) Great lunch, great chat, and ofc they are indeed great people to know. Cut to late afternoon. Switched on Bride and Prejudice, the movie. Enjoyed it while surfing. Therez one song from the movie which I like a lot and keep humming - "Tumse Kahen Ya Hum Na Kahen". Comes evening now and Bri calls. Some ppl name it as, Bri likes to invite "Boredom" ...lolz. "Poor Bri"..that again has been quoted for her. Had real fun. Later part of the evening and night also, I was playing Telephone Telephone. I can really bore ppl to death! lolz..thaz coz God forgot to put a stop button for me. I just keep talking. Whoa..I have some stamina...:D. But, the best chat I had in sometime. Rediscovered a part of myself !!

Saturday Story

Lazy me. Did nothing today. Absolutely Nothing. Have some serious deadline-bound druggery lined up...but just could not resist the temptation of spending the whole day laxing. Long Weekend made me lazier. We have been hearing "Sunday is a holiday" since childhood, but today I kept saying "Monday is a holiday". :D

Downloaded newest songs in the morning. Chatted with my doting family for an hour. Teased my parents a lot. Exchanged PJs with my bro.

In the evening, I learnt that anything is possible in this digital age. Yes, two people can take a walk together being at two differnt places. What makes them take the walk together? The mobile blabber box Telephone. Experienced that today. Awesome. Strolling can be fun and nice ppl.

Analyze this. The way I look at things would make me compile a book of axioms of my own. Pu and me came up with one today. Why I (or we) hated Social Studies? 'Coz We study(mug up would be appropriate) and dig the past, while we are studying for a better future, only to score less and screw up the present (grades ppl).:D

Deepti got a new Silver Honda Civic today. Fabulous. Even took a ride in it to a grocery store with loud Trance music. Yeah I and deepti love Trance. Now, I wanna start driving one brand new beauty of my own and soon. Amen!

Watching a movie now..."LA Story".

Movie Hangover

Once Again !!!!! And this time it is "Kate and Leopold" and "Before Sunrise". Alas, what could it mean, Double trouble! Saw the movies today...both...on the same day. First a romantic comedy and latter a sentimental romance movie. Just cannot described how mezmerizing these movies were !

Hugh Jackman, as the Duke of Albany, "Leopold" is entrancing. I just drooled over him...or the character. His Duende, Ohh so gallant appearance and polished mannerisms. Women-respecting courtesy. So surreal! Just...just got carried away! Why can't I?? I mean look at the mess-of-alas-shez-a-woman kinda MCPs I see everyday. Have mercy on me Gwwwaaad !!!! This leopold guy was like every woman's fantasy. Hark !! Its a movie. :D The hangover still remains. :D. It ain't be no different. It happens when I fall in love with movies. =)).

Before Sunrise - A visual presentation of platonic love. Recommended by a few friends and the guy who works at the blockbuster. Yeah...he now knows me and deepti by our visages. Few others warily quoted "Its all Blah Blah". But I ended up adoring the idea of Blah Blah. So simple. Just talk, talk, and talk, but its different. I guess no one needs an explanation for why I like talking, except all my teachers and professors, who kept marking "Very Talkative" in all my report cards. Papa used to say.....look at the red color ink ur teachers use. :D. lolz.

Quote unquote, I spent the entire evening alone, watching movies and data entry and chatting and eating and talking a stroll in the beautiful weather and ....I donno whatz next. I mean I acted impulsively. I had a whim to act impulsively today. Ppl, i just don't know how to explain that. I am accustomed to plan things. Plan every small thing quotidian. Sometimes they say, not everything in life goes planned. I gave it a thought and impulsion took over me. Made out-of-the-blue decisions today. Rejected everything to go for something different. Weird. I guess I enjoyed. But just for today. Back to druggery from tomorrow...i mean thesis :D. Gonna enjoy the rest of the Friday night peacefully now. :). Lets c what comes up next !!

Food for Thought

1. The problem with punctuality is that there is no one to appreciate.
--So why be punctual ?? :D

2. The mind is a lousy master but an obedient servent.
--Wonder what would happen if every person puts the master in charge !!

3. Zany, Zesty, Zingy, Zippy, Zeal.....all Z's
--When we talk of enthusiasm, excitement, vigour, passion, why do we end up with Z ?

4. Sinful Pleasures ? (I love and have comitted and will go on :D)
--Gossiping (No one can beat that !!)
--Vanilla with Chocholate sauce (Savor that and U'll buy a calorie shop)
--Watching movie the night before exams (Almost my hobby)

5. Some words from the Oxymoron list.
--Same Difference
--Government Organization
--Plastic glasses
--Virtual Reality

Enough for today. Excuse' Moi. Getting back to druggery..wonder if this was synonym for Thesis ?

10 most stupid questions people usually ask in obvious situations and some equally stupid answers

1. At the movies :When you meet acquaintances/friends
Stupid Question :-Hey, what are you doing here?
Answer:-Well,it's so hot , there were no cool cabs so I thought i'd watch some advertisements in the cool comfort of the theatre.

Stupid Question:-Sorry, did that hurt?

3. At a funeral:One of the teary-eyed people ask
Stupid Question:-Why, why him, of all people.

Answer:-No, its teribble and made of adulterated cement. We occasionaly also spit in it.

5. At a family get-together.When some distant aunt meets you after years
Stupid Question:-Munna,Chickoo, you've become so big.
Answer:-Well you haven't particularly shrunk yourself.

6. When a friend announces her wedding, and you ask
Stupid Question:-Is the guy you're marrying good?
Answer:-No,he's a miserable wife-beating , insensitive lout...it's just the money.

7. When you get woken up at midnight by a phone call
Stupid Question:-Sorry. were you sleeping.
Answer:-No. I was playing cricket for India at Sharjah and just when you called Salim Malik was betting with me that Pakistan would win. What do you think?

Viola'

Spent the whole Sunday morning changing my blog. Dunno how and why I wanted to revamp it. But got so much psyched about it, that lost the track of time. Juggled with it quite a few times to make it look pleasing. Viola' !! And guess what now I am damn darn tired !!

Past two days were "Calling Buddies" days. How much more can I jabber? Hooked the cellphone to the adapter and chittar chatter age begins. The vicious cycle of talking late, sleeping late, and getting up late was at its best.

Teja gave a sudden cameo today on yahoo and as usual made a "when-did-u-go" exit. Can't change that about my lil bro.

Relished a ginger tea today while working on my blog. Grabbing a bite of pasta with alfredo sauce now and seriously planning to enter data into my thesis database. This thought has never been put into practice yet...lets c if i can conquer it today.

And then again I can say Viola' !!!!

Errrrrrrrrrrrr......forgot to wish HR and SR regading their aniversary, although AR met me online today :((.

Sad..SueB called to inform about the bomblast in two big theatres of Delhi. Apparently, the film being screened "Jo Bole So Nihaal" is amidst a controversy.

The Return of Sujata

Am I sounding like a Movie buff? Yeah..for a second i thought so. But its been after so long that I have resumed my blogging. Looks like events made me take a break. It has been over a week now. My disappearance on blogging scenario is attributed to the hectic yet thrilling time that I had. Moments filled with happines, excitement, craziness, touring, quality time with friends, and some analyzing of internal thoughts ala Reality Bites took the reins. :)

Graduation is one big event in our lives. It changed my life too on Saturday, May 14, 2005. I graduated !! Although unofficially graduated since my thesis will be still pending till July, yet I did. And believe me it was just a thrilling experience. Never felt so elated before. I could feel the adrenaline rush. Yeah...two years of toil coming to a fruitful ending. Is it? For me, it was a new beginning. I could see my world expanding beyond the horizon. PhD awaits me. There was one thing my heart yearned for - the presence of my strength my doting parents. In a filmy ishtyle..I closed my eyes and there I could see them. :) Some close friends were there to cheer for us too. Thats when you feel pure and sheer joy.

After the official convocation ceremony we took our Pharmacist Oath. Oath, that we need to abide by (pun intended). If you ever read our oath, you will find irony in that. Patients pray everyday...God save us from those experimental creatures. :D. The thundering applause by the audience just made the event magnanimous and exciting. More the clapping, more the adrenaline rush. And after that....click click click. The 'make-official' photography ceremony. Just going click click click. Captured some funfilled memories too. Herez one classic example.

The Official Cap Throwing Ceremony.......Looks like we are playing. :D Posted by Hello

Also enjoyed the Graduation Banquet in Hyatt the day before graduation. Standing ovation....What more do we want !! Thats sure enough a motivation to make u work on ur everytime-procrastinated thesis...lolz :D

This was just the beginning. On Sunday, we embarked upon our journey to Washington DC. The purpose was a conference, but who cares. Though the place gave some negative vibes this time, yet the whole break-from-routine was fun. Reunion of Friends was the talk of the town. No kidding. Met some oldie-long time-no hear people. Gotta gossip a lot. Thats one sinful yet ecstatic experience "female species" love to go through. Won a SAS programming book at the student ice breaker reception. Took it as a good omen for my PhD. :)

The White House Posted by Hello

I was especially invited to the above place to have a fantastic dinner with Mr. Bush. =))

I still cannnot believe that I spent the whole thursday pretending to give a rest to my sprained hamstrings. Household chores never take a back seat. For me I can't I just cannot see shabbiness. I cleaned the whole house and restroom while limping. And spent the whole evening analyzing my crazy behaviors and some deep thoughts. I always rediscover myself on Thursdays...can u answer that?

Overall, it was a fantastic week and the return to the cliched-boring-busy thesis routine. :D So it has been a return to everything.

Before I make an exit...Tapan taught some japanese. Sounds kwl.

Konnichiwa - Good Day. No no. I am not teaching you. I wanted to wish ya. lolz.

Planning to do laundry in the evening and lots of it. Yuck...I just hate it. And with limping legs, Shhhuuucckkks !!!!!

And now I am feeling like a "Jabberwocky" - a talkative monster, who just won't keep mum. :D

Wishful Waiting !

One day will come
When I shall be
On top of this world.

That will be my day
Sunlight and the sunshine
And the pleasant air.

The colors of the rainbow
Will crown my glory
Untill the due dawn.

All the pretty flowers
Shall smile-whole-day
To celebrate my victory.

The birds will sing
And flap their wings
Rejoicing for me.

Cuddly angels of god
Will be happy for me
Cherubic faces telling the story.

I shall be Alice
Though for a while
In my cherished wonderland.

May that day come soon
For me and for all
Not just then, to stay forever.

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Boredom Kills. And so does frustration. Its a chain reaction. Arghhhhhhhhhhh. Imagine the additive effect of both. To cut short....I am being killed now. Arghhhhhhh.

Data collection...arghhh..is not my forte. Long waits. Nothing to do. Also, can't do anything on-site. Just keep asking ppl to help-you-out. Reiterate the same thing. Suddenly you realize, "OMG ! I sound like a burnt-out recorded tape !". Arghhh. Then u realize that ur r frustrated. And it gets on ur nerves. No time for food. Yawnnnnn...Damn. Again..what to do..but continue with the boredom. It feels like you are wearing a Facade.

The only thing that can cheer me up would be some solid good data collection. Ditto. Happened that today. That did alleviate my boredom to a certain extent. Went home and had some noodles. So far pretty good.

Worst case scenario shows up. Net at home is not working. Arghhhhhhhhhh. Killing the time begins. Boredom resumes. Okie...decided to watcha movie "Wherz the party yaar?". Its shot in my university. Hmm....I was left wondering..."Wherz the movie yaar?" Arghhhh..it always happens with me. Viola' the net is working suddenly.

Orkut was missing me since long. So what better way to enjoy than to orkut. Arghhhhhhhhhhh again. Damn my stars it is the slowest today. Enuf of donuts, I dont want it now. Give me my scrapbook. Hmm...and here I am Arghhhhhh..ing to boredom.

I have to get rid of it.....hmm think tank is working now.

IDEA !

Let start disaster management.......o god o no..did i say that again...I mean cooking :D. I got this from my sis, but it perfectly suits me. Putting on some zingy music and off to demonstrate my culinary skills (if there are any..according to a coupla frndz...kidding) =))

Arghhhh......shoot. I meant Cheerios !

Mummas Rock !!

Thanking Mom...........................
Couldn't have better memories of us (me n my bro) teasing my cutie pie Mom :D.

Maa this...maa that....all the time..Even if we weren't preschoolers :D.

Mumma....U handled our shelling with utmost courage. Bravo !! :D Posted by Hello

======

AS I LOOK BACK...

As I look back on my life
I find myself wondering...
Did I remember to thank you
for all that you have done for me?

For all of the times you were by my side
to help me celebrate my successes
and accept my defeats?

Or for teaching me the value of hard work
,good judgement, courage, and honesty?

I wonder if I've ever thanked you
for the simple things...
The laughter, smiles, and quiet times we've shared?

If I have forgotten to express my gratitude
For any of these things,I am thanking you now...
and I am hoping that you've known all along,
how very much you are loved and appreciated.

==

Fortunately enough, found this nice-little-simple poem to blog. Yes, it actually represents what I wanted to say to my mom. Damn........could I have been more lazy??

Today I just want to say..rather yell "Mumma.....I love you. Mumma....I miss you. Mumma...I need you." Always. :) >:D< (<<<< if u cud comprehend this mumma :D..lolz)

What better way to celebrate than giving myself a "Pineapple cake-mango shake-white chocolate-chocolate chip crunch Troufle" treat !!!!!!!!! R U kiddos jealous ????

Calling it a Day now :)

"If you want to change the system, you have to be in the system."

This is a sentence from a movie that I saw yesterday. Isn't it true to a certain extent? Instead of being helpless about the uncontrollable circumstances and avoiding it, we have to adapt to the surroundings and learn to tackle it. We have to find out our own ways through the system. Yeah..I guess atleast we can try that. Right?

"Its not only important that you say the truth, but also the way it is revealed."

A second thought-provoking sentence from the same movie. Good one. Since long elders have been saying, "Say the right thing at right time at right palce to get everything right." yeah..wrote it funny purposely. Whats right here? How do we decide whats right? When to say what? I guess experience will guide us then. Or is it our instincts? Or again does that depend on the circumstances what we decide is right or wrong? Similarly, coming to the point, if the truth is not said in a right approprite situation at the right time, it may lose its value and significance. The most imp thing here is to decide what 'Right' is? Right?..lolz. :) True, ain't it?

As for the day:

Pretty hectic. Began the day as usual early at the clinic. Had to stop data collection as one of the doctors had a cardio-emergency. But I was quite satified with the process till now. Went to school, had lunch, and started working on a pending assignment. Today was the deadline to send it to prof. Had to research on that for a lot. Viola' done that. Went home, mailed a few people. Cooked sabut moong dal. The idea struck me as I remembered what mumma used to say about it. "Eating moong dal on wednessdays is good". Man...I could never understand why she said so, but never ignored it too. Yaad aaye mumma ki baat aur woh..so cooked it. Turned out awesome :D. Was then waiting for Guddi to savor it.:D. Now watching "Mumbai Express" - a nice light comedy movie.

Had a nice onversation with Ash after a long time. Hero is busy with his job and a new life ;). As usual Dadima had some tips for him for his minor health problems :D:P. See thats what happens when u have a pharamcist friend - Free tips..no worries about the insurance. :D

India Recreated in Houston !!!

"The Crowning Glory- "TAJ MAHAL" made from Sand !!" Posted by Hello

Houston International Festival

Since past two weeks "The Houston International Festival" was the talk of the town, especially among Indians. Well, India was the theme country this time. A special "Incredible India Zone" was set up amidst gigantic buildings of downtown. Innumerable tents adorned the venue and depicted India in its true colors in many ways viz Food, Music, Art, Spiritualism, Vegetarianism, and Dance performance. A phantasmagoric sand Taj Mahal was the crowing glory of Ifest. Saree-for-a-day dressed up people in sarees. Americans went gaga over it. The 'bollywood and classical' performances were mezmerizing. Food was simply delicious. People came to enjoy from all over houston. It was a wonderful experience being there. Enjoyed it Dil Se !! Cheerios
