Earnest Cogitation

By Edgar Lee Masters

My mind was a mirror:
It saw what it saw, it knew what it knew,
In youth my mind was just a mirror,
In a rapidly flying car,
Which catches and loses bits of the landscape.
Then in time
Great scratches were made on the mirror,
Letting the outside world come in,
And letting my inner self look out,
For this is the birth of the soul in sorrow,
A birth with gains and losses.
The mind sees the world as a thing apart,
And the soul makes the world at one with itself,
A mirror scratched reflects no image-
And this is the silence of wisdom.

Found this poem in a small booklet given by Guds. Worth pondering.

Btw,
If-then-do Else-do commands don't work in life. Life's not a program.

And whatta beautiful weather outside :)

some great lines there

so let me get this one straight soul sees through the scratches and the scratches are symbolic of wisdom the rest of the mirror is the mind which sees the world one image at a time and soul is one with the world

soul sees through the eyes of wisdom and mind just sees the outershell of our world (i think that is lil bit unfair to the mind!!)

yup i think that is bout it

n how went the presentation
